Caseworks

The Border Project will travel to your museum, organization, institution or school!

Caseworks in Tucson was instrumental in transforming The Border Project from an installation in to a traveling exhibition.   Our new crate was uniquely designed to fit the project and serves as a perfect mode of transportation for the exhibit.  We look forward to putting it to good use.

A Teacher Workshop inspired by The Border Project was held at the museum on October 17, 2009 from 9:00am to1:00pm where teachers received 4 professional development hours and explored the history, culture and issues surrounding the US-Mexico border. Speakers included Dr. Roberto Rodriquez (UA Mexican American Studies) on identity and migrants, Dr. Michael Brescia (UA ASM/History) on modern Mexican history, Joseph Joaquin (Cultural Affairs, Tohono O'odham Nation) on how the Tohono O'odham Nation is affected by the border, and Morgana Wallace (exhibit director The Border Project) on how to creatively engage students in thinking about the Border. Over lunch, Dan Willis of the Sierra Club screened Wild vs Walk and led a discussion about it. The optional afternoon session included performances of corridos and waila music and interactive, hands-on activities related to Borderlands culture.  It was a well attended, informative and overall successful event.
