On August 22, 2008, the students who participated in The Border Project came together at the Tohono O’odham Cultural Center and Museum for a Student Celebration. They traveled from Ajo, Sonoyta Mexico, and San Simon for a day of cultural exchange, social interaction, and idea sharing on the topic of borders. We started the day with an O’odham blessing, held small group discussions, visited the Border Project exhibit, heard the Vice Chairperson of the Nation speak during a great lunch, and closed the day with student speeches from each of the three schools. It was a powerful and memorable experience for all involved.
